Book Tag: The 2017 Mid-Year Book Freakout Tag

Hello everyone!

I know, I know, it’s way past June and thus it is way past the reasonably acceptable time to post the Mid-Year Book Freakout Tag. But here I am, completing the tag, because I am a rebel. (Actually, no, I just took a blogging break and this is the one tag that I really wanted to complete this year so… yeah.)

This tag was created by Chami from ReadLikeWildfire (watch her video here) and Ely from Earl Grey Books (watch her video here). I completed this tag last year so if you’d like to see my 2016 Mid-Year Book Freakout Tag you can check that out here.

So, without further ado, let’s dive into this tag!

1. Best book you’ve read so far in 2017.

I already know I’m going to be cheating quite a bit with these questions because I can never choose just one answer. (It’s a problem, I know.) If I have to narrow it down to only a few I’d probably have to go with History Is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera, A Million Junes by Emily Henry, The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, and Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde. I chose each of those books for so many different reasons and I love them immensely.

2. Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2017.

Definitely In the Afterlight by Alexandra Bracken and Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han! I loved them both so much and I think they were amazing series conclusions.

3. New release you haven’t read yet, but want to.

I’ve heard so many amazing things about Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia and I cannot wait to read it soon!

4. Most anticipated release for
the second half of the year.

SO MANY, how could I possibly answer this question with just one book? I have a small section in the sidebar of my blog that I update throughout the month with upcoming releases that I’m highly anticipating so you can look there to see which books I can’t wait to read. However, three novels that I absolutely cannot wait to get my hands on are The Becoming of Noah Shaw by Michelle Hodkin, Whichwood by Tahereh Mafi, and There’s Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins!

5. Biggest disappointment.

Probably A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas. I gave this book 4/5 stars so it wasn’t terrible by any means, but I had such high expectations after A Court of Mist and Fury and ACOWAR just didn’t meet them.

6. Biggest surprise.

Definitely A Million Junes by Emily Henry. I didn’t expect to adore this novel as much as I did and Emily Henry is one of my new favorite authors.

7. Favorite new author. (Debut or new to you.)

Speaking of new favorite authors, as I said in my previous answer I have really grown to love Emily Henry’s books! Since the beginning of the year I’ve also fallen in love with books by Adam Silvera, Alexandra Bracken, and Seanan McGuire.

8. Newest fictional crush.

Liam from The Darkest Minds series by Alexandra Bracken. I love and adore him so much.

9. Newest favorite character.

I really loved the cast of characters in both Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire and The Darkest Minds series by Alexandra Bracken!

10. Book that made you cry.

Literally anything written by Adam Silvera turns me into a sobbing ball of emotions.

11. Book that made you happy.

Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde! It was such a fun read.

12. Most beautiful book you’ve bought
so far this year (or received).

Have you seen the covers for Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz and A Million Junes by Emily Henry? They’re absolutely stunning.

13. What books do you need to
read by the end of the year?

A lot of them. I’m really hoping to read quite a few more novels that are listed within my Diversity Bingo 2017 TBR.

And that’s it for this tag! What have been some of your favorite novels that you’ve read so far this year? What novels are you anticipating the release of for the rest of the year? Comment below and let me know!
