I haven’t done any type of book tag in a while and, inevitably, I’m extremely bored and trying to procrastinate at the moment, so I figured why not complete a new book tag! I got the idea to do this tag after watching Hailey’s video and then I went and found the original creator of this tag, Jamie at The Perpetual Page-Turner. This seems like such a fun tag to complete so, without further ado, let’s get into this survey.
Author you’ve read the most books from:
The honest answer to this question is probably Sara Shepard but I really don’t remember the plot of the majority of her books because I read them so long ago, so for this one I’m going to say Cassandra Clare! I’ve read ten of her books and one of her short stories that was included in Summer Days and Summer Nights. I still have to read Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy, but I’m planning on picking that novel up soon!
Best sequel ever:
Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo. That book was truly a masterpiece.
I just finished reading The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken a few hours ago and aside from that I’m also (very slowly but surely) reading Animal Farm by George Orwell.
Drink of choice while reading:
Either water or iced tea (specifically the black iced tea from Starbucks).
E-reader or physical book?
I would almost always say physical book but I recently started renting e-books from my local library and reading them on my phone when I’m out of the house so, as of now, I would pick both!
Fictional character you probably
would have actually dated in high school:
Considering the fact that I’m still in high school (okay, okay, I’m going to graduate in a few months) I can definitely picture myself dating Noah from the Mara Dyer trilogy, Gansey from The Raven Cycle, or Étienne from Anna and the French Kiss.
Glad you gave this book a chance:
City of Bones by Cassandra Clare because it sucked me into absolutely adoring everything she’s ever written.
Hidden gem book:
Definitely Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone because it’s one of my favorites and I wish there was more hype around it. I’m also going to mention Just One Day, Just One Year, and Just One Night by Gayle Forman because I recently read those books and devoured them, but I never really see a lot of talk about them.
Important moment in your reading life:
Aside from joining the bookish community by joining Goodreads, making this blog, and making my bookstagram account, I’d have to say meeting my friend Lily was definitely an important moment in my reading life! She introduced and recommended to me so many amazing novels and series that I probably wouldn’t have read if it weren’t for her.
Within the past few days I’ve read History Is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera, Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher, The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, and The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken. I’m hoping to write and post reviews for each of those novels soon!
Kinds of books you won’t read:
I’ve been really trying to expand the genres of books that I read but I have yet to read anything historical fiction, so I guess I would say that genre…? I don’t really want to rule anything out until I give it a try!
Longest book you’ve read:
According to Goodreads, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the longest book I’ve read at a whopping 870 pages!
Major book hangover because of:
A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas because emotions.
Number of bookcases you own:
Three and I guess one more if you count the bookshelf that I have to hold all of my book-related stuff in.
One book you have read multiple times:
I’ve probably read every Twilight book more times than I’d like to admit. Particularly Breaking Dawn, as I still have the original hardcover that I read so many times it eventually fell apart and I had to go out and buy a new paperback copy.
Preferred place to read:
Either in my bedroom on my bed or in my living room on the couch. But, honestly, I can read basically anywhere and be happy about it.
Quote that inspires you/gives
you all the feels from a book you’ve read:
There are so many quotes that inspire me so I probably can’t pick just one, but a quote that gave me all the feels would be anything said by Warner in the Shatter Me series, particularly anything he said in Unravel Me and/or Ignite Me.
I definitely regret not reading so many amazing series when they originally came out. I feel like I’m so behind on reading books and I’m trying as hard as I possibly can to read popular series that I never read. Another regret I have that ties into that is watching the Harry Potter movies over and over again before finally reading the series. Fun fact — I haven’t even finished reading the series yet. I still have to read Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows but I’m really hoping to read them this year!
Series you started and need to
finish (all books are out in the series):
Aside from the obvious *cough*Harry Potter*cough*, I still need to finish The Darkest Minds trilogy, the Burn for Burn trilogy, the Pretty Little Liars series (which I’ll probably never get around to fully reading), and I guess The Maze Runner series because I haven’t read the prequels yet.
Three of your all-time favorite books:
Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi, Six of Crows/Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo (don’t make me choose between them please), and Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. This is such an unfair question because I feel like I can never narrow down my favorites to just a few books because I’m only ever able to narrow down my favorites to certain books from a variety of genres. If you’d like to see all of my favorite books, go here.
Unapologetic fangirl for:
Tahereh Mafi. I have no shame. She is my queen. I am Tahereh Mafi trash.
Very excited for this release more than all the others:
I can’t just pick one book so… any future books written by Tahereh Mafi, any future books written by Leigh Bardugo, A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas, Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare, When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon, Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han, They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera and… a lot… more… ha… haha. I’m actually planning on writing a whole blog post about summer/fall/winter/the-rest-of-2017 releases that I’m excited for, so stay tuned for that post!
Worst bookish habit:
Whenever something super exciting/stressful/anxiety-inducing/plot-twisty is happening in a book, I always find myself glancing to the end of the pages really quickly by accident and this usually results in major spoiling and instant regret.
X marks the spot — start at the top left
of your shelf and pick the 27th book:
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling!
Your latest book purchase:
I went out and purchased the amazing The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas and devoured it within one sitting.
ZZZ-snatcher book (last book that kept you up way late):
Unravel Me and Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi. I finished the former at 2am and the latter a few hours later at around 7am. I have absolutely no regrets.
And that’s it for this tag! This was such a fun bookish survey to complete and if you’re reading this and want to do this tag then I tag you to complete it. Comment below and tell me: what is the 27th book on your bookshelf?
